Four days in Bar Harbor

Cristen and I went to Bar Harbor for a few days. They run a very famous genetic course, and we got to meet some of the heroes of genetics. It was all very exciting. In addition to the learned atmosphere, we visited some wonderful places in Acadia National Park -- which is highly recommended if you like hiking.

Jordan Pond.Acadia National Park is just a stone's throw away from Bar Harbor. On our first visit, Abby, Laila and Jared were our guides, and took us around the pretty Jordan Pond. With our able guides, we even spotted very well camouflaged frog. Cadillac Mountain.Cadillac mountain is named after a famous car, but we couldn't see the resemblance. We did get a nice view of Bar Harbor Bay and the Porcupine Islands, and catch a pretty sunset.
Mount Champlain We climbed to the top of Mount Champlain for a pretty view. We were lucky to avoid the Precipice -- at least judging by the warning signs. On the way, we passed beaver lake and saw some impressive looking beaver houses. Unfortunately, the beavers were sleeping ... In Town We found an cinema / restaurant hybrid called "Reel Pizza" where we watched "Super Size Me", a very over-the-top fast-food is not good for you kind-of movie, and chewed on some very taste slow-cooked pizza.
Acadia Highlights On our last day, we toured some of the Acadia highlights we missed during all our mountain climbing. We visited the Thunder Hole and the Rockefeller Trails, carefully designed in the first half of the 20th century for the enjoyment of Mr. Rockefeller. They are addorned with pretty bridges and waterfalls, and can be enjoyed on a carriage. Whale and Puffin Spotting Some pictures of fin-back whales, puffins and a antique looking boat with orange sails... If you can spot me and Cristen, look for the ice in our faces -- there were some chilling Atlantic winds in the open sea.
