Application InformationApplicants to this program generally are of three types: (1) pre-doctoral students who seek doctoral training in biostatistics, statistics, or computer science with a strong emphasis in genetics, (2) pre-doctoral students who seek doctoral training in human genetics or biology with a strong emphasis in biostatistics or computer science, and (3) post-doctoral students with PhDs in the mathematical or biological sciences who seek training at the interface between statistical and molecular genetics. Applicants may come from the participating departments of Biostatistics and Human Genetics, from the departments of the other participating faculty: Ecology and Evolutionary Biology; Epidemiology; Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology; Mathematics; Statistics, and Bioinformatics, or from departments not currently identified with the training program. We will support ten students total in 2007-2008, though some spaces will be used by students continuing on the GSTP. Applications and nominations should include: undergraduate and graduate transcripts, GRE scores, at least three letters of recommendation from undergraduate or graduate faculty, and a statement of research interests, experience, and training goals. The statement should (1) include the manner in which the applicant learned of our program and (2) make clear the interdisciplinary nature of the applicant's interests. Application information should be sent to: Michael Boehnke, Ph.D. The Training Program Executive Committee meets in early March to evaluate and select trainees for the program. Nominations and applications must be received by March 1, 2008, to receive full consideration; later submissions will be considered if positions remain. |
